Great Spots

Our favourite places to eat and drink in county cork

cafés & coffee

Priory Coffee Co.

North Main Street

A favourite coffee spot for a quick grab and go when heading into town.

Priory serve Badger & Dodo coffee – a fantastic roast – which makes for a great americano.

They also have a great selection of savoury and sweet pastries and bakes.

You can grab a coffee and a pastry for €5; perfect for a weekend morning treat!

Cork Coffee Roasters

French Church Street
Bridge Street

Cork Coffee Roasters’ home grown ‘Rebel Espresso’ blend is one of the nicest in the city, and their French Church Street location is always bustling with bohemian goodness.

Grab a creamy-smooth flat white when you get the chance.

Food

Cameron Bakery

Washington Street

Cameron Bakery is a little slice of France at the centre of Washington Street.

A patisserie offering fantastic, freshly baked breads and pastries, both sweet and savoury.

Our highlight though is the sandwiches. Offering unique and delicious fillings served on a warm crusty baguette, it’ll beat a sub any day!

During lockdown we found it best to browse the menu online before heading in, otherwise you’re just so spoiled for choice you hold up the queue!

My Goodness

The English Market

My Goodness offer a great range of really unique, vegan ‘super foods’. Regardless of buzz-wordiness of the description (ours, not theirs), this stall in the English Market is a great spot for a tasty and different lunch.

We particularly love the ‘mezze’, a kind of salad or Buddha Bowl with various different textures and flavours. The sun-dried tomato and seasonal green pâtés are particular standouts, we’ve even went back and bought individual tubs to use on salads at home.

Tequila Jack’s

Lapp’s Quay

A fantastic Mexican restaurant overlooking the lee. Their authentic food is rivalled only by their range of fantastic cocktails and great atmosphere.

Our recommended game plan: order a platter of chips and dip (the black bean is particularly good) and guacamole, with a margarita pitcher, while you slave over the menu and work out which vibrant, spicy, tortilla-wrapped delicacy to choose for your main. If you have room finish with some churros or a brownie, naturally.
